Djinni of Increaseing Complexity - Print

from 12.00

In mythology there are djinnis for almost everything - for music, beauty, food, and also things that aren't very nice. This Djinni is for increasing complexity, for adding a dimension of chaos to normal linear flow, for adding filigree fractal edges to boring smooth surfaces, for creating more detail in places where there was none before!

She's a being of fire, but she gets her real powers from the thrill of standing next to a waterfall - so dangerous as it could easily put out her life-giving flames, but she stands there confidently, working her magic.

This is a digital piece, done using digital painting and photomontage with original photography.

People claim that they can look for hours at my work and still discover new things. I grew up visiting the Museum of Natural History in New York, gazing at the elaborate dioramas with my grandmother, always trying to find a new creature neither of us had spotted yet. And so my art is an extension of this idea - that the world is always full of new things to discover, and even the dullest patches of earth are full of microscopic creatures that look alien to us, tiny crystals and bacteria with whirling, tricky gears of life inside.
