Secret Spring - 8-Bit Art - Print

from 12.00

An 8-bit digital painting of a spring with columnar basalt (like the kind you see at Giant's Causeway). This spring is half Florida aquifer, half Pacific Northwest geology- my two homes for the last 10 years. Why is the spring secret? Well, you decide what this magic hidden item is down at the bottom. Maybe that's why there's so many roses growing here.

I painted this using Hexels, an awesome program that lets you draw one pixel at a time using any shape of pixel! You can make some really fantastic Escher-esque work with it. I really only sat down to draw something for an evening for fun, and before I knew it I was deeply involved with this project that took me 4 weeks to complete! A lot of people ask me if it was inspired by Minecraft. I've never played it, but many people end up buying it for their Minecraft-fan friends. This time I actually wanted the landscape to be a bit of Escher Impossible.
